Should Christians Vote Democrat in 2020?

With the 2020 election still up in the air, many Christians have declared their support for Joe Biden. But should Christians vote Democrat?

Christian Voting in the 2020 Presidential Election

There is still a lot of confusion and ambiguity surrounding the 2020 Presidential election. With the official decision still looming, many Americans are left with more questions than answers. Vote count delays, rumors of ballot harvesting, claims of more votes in Wisconsin than there are registered voters, all shape this as an unprecedented election to say the least.

But what role should Christians play in politics & democratic voting? Which political platform is most inline with the Christian worldview? Does the Bible reveal what our political stance should be in 2020, over 2000 years later?

Well according to a Democracy Institute/Sunday Express poll released earlier this year, 90% of Evengelical Christians support President Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020. While polling has been shrouded in controversy ever since 2016, this still reveals an insight into the general political mindset of Evangelicals voters in 2020.

That being said, there are many other Christians that have expressed their support for Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Prominent Christian preachers like John Piper & Tim Keller have also expressed their uncertainty in voting for President Donald Trump.

Christians Should Not Support the Democratic Platform

The Christian worldview and the Democratic platform are completely at odds with one another. The nature of these two world views are diametrically opposed and can not be reconciled.

The Biblical, Christian worldview and the Democratic Party’s platform are oil and vinegar.

Many Christians in 2020 still struggle with what party to vote for. To their credit, we have never had a more divisive and polarizing Presidential figure in American history. It is understandable why this decision can be difficult.

However, if one compares the Democratic platform with the Bible side by side, discrepancies & contradictions quickly surface. Many of the Democratic policies & ideologies directly contradict the Bible. To begin, let’s analyze some of these concepts and juxtapose them to scripture.

The current Democratic platform includes policies & beliefs such as:

Needless to say, the Democratic platform stands for ideas and concepts that are antithetical to the Bible. The issue of abortion ALONE should be enough to deter Christians from voting Democrat. The amount of mental & spiritual gymnastics a Christian must do to come to terms with these contradictions is nothing short of fantastical.

Conclusion: Should Christians Vote Democrat?

In summary, the Christian worldview & the Democratic platform are completely incompatible, there is no debate. One can not honestly lay the two ideologies side-by-side and find cohesion.

As Christians, we know that this is not our world. We enter our kingdom after this life, not during it. However, that’s not to say that Christians should not fight for righteousness and holiness on this side of life. Christians can and should practice their political power to attempt to make the world a better place, inline with God’s character.

While we know that this world is fallen, we must do our part to be the salt of the earth. As Matthew 5:13 states:

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
